President Masoud Barzani Meets with British Advisor to Discuss Security and Peshmerga Reforms
On Thursday, Masoud Barzani, leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), held a meeting with Admiral Edward Algren, Senior Political and Military Advisor to the British Government for Middle East and North African Affairs, along with his accompanying delegation.
The discussions centered on the political and security situation in Iraq, the region's recent developments, and the ongoing coordination between coalition forces and the Peshmerga Forces. A significant portion of the meeting focused on reforms within the Peshmerga Ministry. Barzani expressed his gratitude for the British government's consistent support of the Peshmerga, particularly in their fight against the Islamic State (IS). He also recognized Britain's efforts in assisting with the reform process within the Ministry.
The leaders also addressed the continued presence of coalition forces in Iraq and the ongoing threat of terrorism in the region. Both parties underscored the importance of sustained cooperation to maintain security and stability in Iraq and the broader region.
