Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Honors 63rd Anniversary of September Revolution

Erbil, Kurdistan Region – On Wednesday, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Masrour Barzani, delivered a commemorative message marking the 63rd anniversary of the Great September Revolution, an iconic uprising in Kurdish history led by the late Mulla Mustafa Barzani.

In his statement, Prime Minister Barzani hailed the September Revolution as a "national, embracing, and encompassing revolution across Kurdistan." He reflected on the pivotal role the revolution played in defending the Kurdish people and their homeland during a time of intense oppression and hardship. The revolution, led by Mulla Mustafa Barzani, united Kurds from all walks of life, regardless of age, background, or social status.

“Too many parties, communities, tribes, and clans, along with religious leaders and scholars, pledged their support to the revolution,” Barzani remarked. He further emphasized how the revolution became a national symbol for Kurds across the four parts of Kurdistan—south, north, east (Rojhalat), and west (Rojava)—with the southern region playing a particularly vital role.

Barzani's message paid tribute to the veterans and martyrs who sacrificed for the cause, noting that many hailed from southern Kurdistan. He described the revolution as an inspiration for current and future generations to continue striving for justice, unity, and the protection of Kurdish rights and territory.

In his address, Barzani commemorated the Kurdish people's enduring fight for freedom, stating, “The high virtues of the September Revolution for justice, unity, consistency, and standing against oppression and injustice always inspire us to serve the Kurdish people and protect our national achievements.”

He concluded with a tribute to the martyrs, saying, “Greetings and salutes to the martyrs’ souls in the September Revolution and all the martyrs of Kurdistan.”

The September Revolution, launched in 1961, is widely regarded as a pivotal moment in Kurdish history, symbolizing the Kurdish people's resilience and determination in the face of adversity.

The Prime Minister's speech highlights the enduring significance of the revolution in shaping the identity and unity of the Kurdish nation today.
