Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Ali Mohsen Al-Alaq, on Monday to discuss ongoing banking reforms and the "My Account" project in the Kurdistan Region.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Barzani highlighted the success of the "My Account" banking initiative, which has so far registered over 500,000 public sector employees. The project is set to begin disbursing salaries to an additional 200,000 newly registered employees next month.

Both sides underscored the importance of continuing the project, with support from the Central Bank of Iraq, and discussed the need for further collaboration on banking reforms.

Prime Minister Barzani thanked Governor Al-Alaq for his strong support of the "Hisabi" project and the wider banking reforms in the Kurdistan Region. He also noted the increasing interest from local and international financial institutions in supporting the KRG's financial strategy.

The meeting also covered efforts to accelerate financial inclusion in the Kurdistan Region, in line with the Central Bank's broader objectives of digitizing the banking sector and promoting financial modernization across Iraq.
