KRG to Address Employee Salaries and Launch New Projects in Halabja

Erbil, Kurdistan Region – The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is set to address the ongoing issue of employee salaries in the region, according to government spokesperson Peshwa Horami. Prime Minister Masrour Barzani is scheduled to hold a series of high-level meetings this week to investigate the reasons behind the delay in salary payments.

Speaking at a press conference, Horami provided updates on a range of initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and services in the Halabja province. During a recent visit to the province, government officials, including Prime Minister Barzani, met with local leaders to discuss and announce several key projects.

Among the planned developments is the construction of a modern building for the Halabja Police Directorate and a new facility for the Agriculture Directorate. Additionally, the government has earmarked 250 million dinars for the rehabilitation of Halabja's main street and allocated around 100 million dinars for two tourism projects in the Byara area.

In response to health concerns, the Prime Minister’s Office has approved the allocation of 114 million dinars to the Halabja Health Directorate to combat the ongoing cholera outbreak. The KRG is also advancing plans for an industrial zone in Halabja, with work set to begin shortly. To encourage investment, the Investment Board has announced that all projects in Halabja will be exempt from fees.

Further initiatives are in the pipeline for Khurmal, with the government planning to develop the area, along with Hawraman, into a significant tourist hub. All these projects have already secured funding, underscoring the government’s commitment to the region's development.

As the KRG continues to tackle these key issues, the forthcoming meetings led by Prime Minister Barzani are expected to provide clarity on the status of employee salaries and ensure that the necessary steps are taken to resolve the matter.
