President Masoud Barzani Meets with Patriarch Sako to Discuss Christian Community's Rights and Security
On Thursday, Masoud Barzani, the president of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), held a significant meeting with Patriarch Louis Raphael Sako, the head of the Chaldean Catholic Church in Iraq and the World, at his residence in Pirmam. The meeting also included an accompanying delegation from the church.
During the discussions, Patriarch Sako expressed his profound gratitude to Barzani for his enduring efforts to protect the Christian community in both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq. He praised Barzani’s steadfast commitment to safeguarding the rights of Christians and ensuring their future security and well-being.
Barzani warmly received the delegation and reaffirmed his dedication to defending the rights of all religious and ethnic communities in Kurdistan. "We consider Christians and all religious and ethnic communities of Kurdistan as part of our people, and we will defend their rights in every way," Barzani stated emphatically.
