Kurdistan Region Minister of Education Celebrates Major Advancements in the Education Sector
The Kurdistan Region's Minister of Education, Alan Hama Saeed, announced significant progress in the education sector during a speech at the inauguration of a new school in Shaqlawa district on Thursday.
Minister Saeed proudly detailed the complete digitalization of the education system, substantial curriculum revisions, and major infrastructure improvements across the region. "We have digitized the entire education sector, modified and updated the curricula, and built more than 150 schools, with plans for 200 more," Saeed declared, highlighting the government's commitment to modernizing education.
In addition to these achievements, 1,650 schools have undergone renovations, 468 new classrooms have been constructed, and all schools in the Kurdistan Region were evaluated in 2022 and 2023. These evaluations have reportedly led to significant improvements in the standards of government schools, aligning with the promises made by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani in 2019.
The Barzani Charity Foundation's contributions were also recognized, with the foundation having renovated 50 schools and converted 74 schools to solar power. These efforts underscore the government's dedication to advancing education, even in the face of economic challenges, ongoing conflicts, and the global pandemic.
Minister Saeed acknowledged the existing challenges and areas that still require attention, but reaffirmed the government's determination to address these issues. "None of the obstacles stopped us," he emphasized.
The Minister also mentioned the preparation of new textbooks, the purchase of 58,000 chairs, and the acquisition of schools valued at 100 billion dinars. He concluded his speech by reiterating the government's unwavering commitment to turning its promises into tangible results, ensuring that the education sector continues to grow and improve.
This series of advancements marks a significant step forward for the Kurdistan Region's education system, reflecting a strong dedication to providing quality education to all students.
