A tragic accident occurred in the Khalkan district today when a minibus carrying 14 passengers overturned, resulting in the death of the driver and injuries to several passengers.

Kamran Abdullah, the district governor, confirmed that nine passengers were initially reported injured in the accident. However, the latest reports from the Raperin traffic spokesman indicate that 11 passengers sustained injuries. Tragically, the driver succumbed to his injuries.

The injured passengers were promptly transported to Khalkan Hospital for medical attention. Due to the severity of some injuries, several patients will be transferred to Sulaimani for further treatment.

Saman Nader, director of the emergency center, announced that three medical teams have been dispatched from Sulaimani to assist in the emergency response efforts in Khalkan.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident as the community rallies to support those affected by this unfortunate incident.
