President Nechirvan Barzani held a meeting with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Masoud Pezeshkian, in Tehran on Wednesday afternoon.

During the meeting, President Pezeshkian expressed his gratitude to President Nechirvan Barzani and his delegation for attending the swearing-in ceremony. He reiterated Iran’s keen interest in bolstering relations with both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, highlighting the potential for enhanced cooperation in numerous fields.

President Nechirvan Barzani expressed his gratitude for the invitation and emphasized the significance of Iran as a neighboring country to the Kurdistan Region. He noted the ongoing efforts to fortify the ties between Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and Iran. Moreover, he extended an invitation to President Pezeshkian to visit Erbil during his anticipated trip to Iraq.

President Nechirvan Barzani highlighted the Kurdistan Region’s aspiration to increase the flow of Iranian tourists into southern Iraq through the Kurdistan Region, and to boost trade relations between the two nations. He reassured that the Kurdistan Region poses no threat to Iran or its neighboring countries.

During the meeting, which included the accompanying delegation, both leaders acknowledged the enduring friendly relations between Iran and the Kurdistan Region. They emphasized Iran’s active security cooperation with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region to promote peace and stability.
