Turkish Bombardment in Shiladze Kills One Civilian, Injures Another
In a tragic incident early Thursday morning, a Turkish bombardment in the town of Shiladze, located in Duhok province, resulted in the death of one civilian and left another injured. The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Osman Roshdi, a married man with no children, who worked as a beekeeper in the area.
This incident is the latest in the decades-long conflict between the Turkish army and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which Ankara designates as a “terrorist organization.” The PKK's presence in the border areas of the Kurdistan Region has frequently drawn the Turkish army into the region, placing the lives of civilians at significant risk.
Kurdish authorities have repeatedly urged both sides to refrain from using Kurdistan’s territory as a battleground to settle their disputes. Despite these calls, Turkey has recently intensified its military operations against the PKK in the border areas of the Kurdistan Region. This escalation has been particularly severe in Duhok, where more than 100 villages have already been evacuated due to the ongoing armed confrontations.
The situation remains tense, and the Kurdish authorities continue to advocate for a peaceful resolution to prevent further civilian casualties and displacement.
