ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – On Wednesday, Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received the Halabja Provincial Support Council in Erbil. The delegation briefed the Prime Minister on the objectives behind the establishment of the council and presented several demands aimed at better serving the people of Halabja province.

The delegation acknowledged that the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) decided to make Halabja a province based on the recommendation of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Masoud Barzani. They also expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for his recent decisions favoring the people of Halabja during his last visit to the province.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Barzani reiterated the KRG's commitment to serving all of Kurdistan, with a particular emphasis on Halabja, a symbol of the Kurdish people's sacrifices. He assured the delegation of the ongoing efforts to ensure that the procedural steps required for Halabja to become a recognized province are completed. Barzani emphasized that this recognition is a legitimate right of the people of Halabja and stated that the KRG is in constant communication with the Iraqi government and the House of Representatives to expedite the process.

The meeting highlighted the KRG's dedication to addressing the needs and rights of the Halabja community, reinforcing the commitment to provincial recognition and improved governance for the region.
