PM Masrour Barzani and Dutch Ambassador Hans Sandee Discuss Bilateral Relations and Regional Developments

Erbil, Kurdistan Region – On Monday, Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with Dutch Ambassador to Iraq Hans Sandee to discuss regional developments and explore ways to enhance bilateral relations between Erbil and Amsterdam.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Barzani expressed his gratitude for the Netherlands' ongoing support in combating Islamic State terrorism. He also acknowledged Ambassador Sandee's efforts in strengthening the ties between the two regions. "We deeply appreciate the Netherlands' assistance in our economic reforms, particularly in diversifying our agricultural sector," said Barzani, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's office.

Ambassador Sandee highlighted the robust relationship between the Kurdistan Region and the Netherlands, noting a significant increase in bilateral trade. He reiterated his country's commitment to further enhancing these ties. "Our relationship is strong, and we are committed to continuing our support and cooperation," Sandee stated.

The discussion also touched upon recent developments in Iraq and the broader region. Both leaders emphasized the importance of conducting Kurdistan parliamentary elections at an appropriate time this year to ensure stability and democratic governance.

Prime Minister Barzani extended his best wishes to Ambassador Sandee for his future endeavors, marking the meeting as a reaffirmation of the strong and collaborative relationship between the Kurdistan Region and the Netherlands.
