Traffic Directorate Implements Radar Systems on Highways Across Iraq

Today, the General Traffic Directorate announced the activation of radar systems on major highways across Iraq, aimed at enhancing road safety and reducing accidents due to speeding.

According to Mohammed Ali Al-Hassoon, Director of Relations and Media at the General Traffic Directorate, radar systems have been deployed on highways leading to key destinations such as Karbala, Anbar, Diyala, and Babylon. Plans are underway to extend this initiative to cover all provinces, ensuring strict enforcement of speed limits to safeguard citizens on external routes.

"We are committed to leveraging radar technology to curb speeding and mitigate traffic hazards," stated Al-Hassoon. He highlighted ongoing efforts to introduce advanced technologies including smart cameras, electronic traffic signals, and street planning enhancements. Additionally, the Directorate has already implemented measures such as electronic automation and adjusted official working hours to alleviate traffic congestion.

Furthermore, in a significant move towards unified traffic enforcement, Al-Hassoon underscored collaborative efforts between the central government in Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region. Both entities are actively exchanging information electronically to streamline the monitoring and imposition of traffic violations, ensuring consistency and efficiency in law enforcement measures.

The Directorate's proactive stance reflects a broader commitment to modernize infrastructure and meet the evolving needs of Iraqi citizens, ushering in a new era of technological advancement in traffic management.
