President Nechirvan Barzani welcomed Mr. Ali Bagheri, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran and his accompanying delegation in Erbil this afternoon.

During the meeting, they emphasized the significance of Iran’s connections with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, underscoring the principles of good neighborly relations and mutual benefits. They reaffirmed their joint commitment to enhancing these ties, particularly in the areas of economic and trade cooperation.

Mr. Bagheri expressed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s gratitude to the Kurdistan Region for its support and facilitation of Iranian pilgrims visiting the shrines and holy sites in southern Iraq.

Likewise, the President expressed his appreciation to Iran for its continuous support to both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, highlighting the strong and positive relations between the two sides. He also acknowledged Iran’s importance as a neighboring nation, emphasizing the longstanding history of their relationship.

The meeting, which included participation from several officials of the Kurdistan Region, also covered a range of regional issues of mutual interest.
