Today, on Monday, February 26, 2024, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, engaged in a series of significant discussions during his visit to Washington. The prime minister convened three distinct meetings with key U.S. officials, addressing crucial topics concerning bilateral relations and regional stability.

In his meetings, Prime Minister Barzani held discussions with Barbara Leaf, the Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Ezra Zia, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights, and Jeffrey Pyatt, the Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources.

The discussions encompassed various pivotal issues aimed at bolstering bilateral ties between the Kurdistan Region and the United States. Among the topics deliberated were the protection of the rights of diverse ethnic and religious communities, the promotion of a peaceful coexistence culture, and the normalization of the situation in Sinjar.

Moreover, Prime Minister Barzani addressed critical economic matters, particularly concerning the resumption of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region. Additionally, he explored avenues for the advancement of the energy sector within the region, seeking to leverage potential opportunities for development and growth.
