Outcry in Duhok as Demonstrators Condemn Iranian Missile Strikes on Erbil's Residential Areas

The streets of Duhok province resonated with the impassioned voices of hundreds of demonstrators on Thursday, united in their anger over the recent Iranian missile strikes targeting residential areas in Erbil.

Draped in the vibrant colors of the Kurdistan flag, demonstrators from various walks of life gathered in the heart of Duhok city to vehemently condemn the assaults. The international community had already voiced widespread denunciations of the missile strikes, amplifying the global outcry against the violence.

Representatives from diverse religious communities, tribal leaders, and party officials stood shoulder to shoulder among the protesters, highlighting the broad societal impact of the attacks. This united front mirrored similar large-scale protests on Tuesday in Erbil, where demonstrators convened in front of the United Nations compound to express their staunch opposition to the Iranian strikes.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) specifically targeted the private residence of prominent Kurdish businessman Peshraw Dizayee during a family gathering on Monday night. Tragically, the attack claimed the lives of Dizayee, his 11-month-old daughter, and two other guests, while six others sustained injuries.

International condemnation poured in swiftly from influential entities, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and the United Nations, as well as numerous other countries. The strikes have heightened tensions in the region, prompting calls for diplomatic resolution and accountability for the perpetrators.

As the people of Duhok and Erbil unite in grief and defiance, the aftermath of these attacks continues to reverberate, emphasizing the urgent need for international collaboration to address the escalating crisis in the region.
