Health Ministry Reports 132 Firework-Related Injuries During New Year's Celebrations in Iraq

The spokesperson for the Iraqi Ministry of Health, Saif Al-Badr, has announced the registration of 132 injuries related to fireworks during New Year's celebrations in Baghdad and various provinces. Al-Badr conveyed that 17 injuries resulted from gunshot wounds, including one fatality, as the nation welcomed the New Year.

The Iraqi News Agency quoted Al-Badr stating, "The recorded injuries include 17 cases of gunshot wounds, one of which resulted in a fatality during New Year's celebrations." He further added that the number of recorded injuries this year is relatively lower compared to previous years.

Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Health in Erbil reported 54 diverse injuries among those celebrating the New Year. The directorate disclosed, "Ten health teams were actively working to receive cases and address unwanted incidents. These teams handled 54 cases, providing medical treatment last night."

Despite the lower numbers of injuries compared to previous years, the health authorities emphasize the need for public awareness and caution during festive events to prevent accidents and injuries related to celebratory activities. As the country ushers in the New Year, health officials remain vigilant, urging citizens to exercise safety measures to avoid preventable harm.
