On Sunday, December 24, 2023, Dr. Jutiar Adil, Head of the Department of Media and Information at the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), addressed various Arab media representatives. He summarised the ongoing negotiations between the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, emphasising the KRG's commitment to upholding the constitution and federalism. Dr. Adil announced an upcoming KRG delegation visit to Baghdad to discuss the budget law and public sector salaries.

He confirmed that oil exports from the Kurdistan Region hinge on negotiations between Iraq and Türkiye, affirming the Region's diligent adherence to export obligations.

Regarding the budget, Dr. Adil emphasised the need for timely allocation of the Kurdistan Region’s financial dues, including federal budget shares and public sector salaries. He noted that the KRG consistently delivers 85,000 barrels per day to the federal government, underscoring its financial commitment. However, he asserted the importance of separating these economic matters from political disputes.
