In a recent wave of military operations, Turkey has conducted airstrikes against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the Kurdistan Region, resulting in casualties and the destruction of multiple targets.

The Kurdistan Region's counter-terrorism service reported that at least 13 PKK fighters were either killed or injured as a result of these strikes. The operations, launched in response to a recent PKK suicide attack on Ankara's national police headquarters, have escalated tensions in the region.

On Thursday, Turkish fighter jets and drones targeted PKK positions in Erbil's Sidakan subdistrict, leading to the deaths of nine PKK fighters. Turkey's National Defense Ministry confirmed that they had "destroyed" 19 targets associated with the PKK across the Kurdistan Region, indicating a significant military offensive against the group.

Furthermore, Turkey's National Intelligence Organization claimed to have "neutralized" a senior PKK member, Sariye Atilla, in the Hakurk area of the Kurdistan Region, underscoring the intensity of their counter-terrorism efforts.

The ongoing conflict between Turkey and the PKK, spanning four decades, has had profound consequences for the region.
