President Nechirvan Barzani received the United Arab Emirates Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim Aldhaheri, this morning.

The UAE Consul General conveyed an invitation from President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to President Nechirvan Barzani, to visit the UAE and participate in the World Climate Action Summit of COP28, the 2023 UN Climate Change Conference. The summit takes place on December 1 and 2 at Expo City Dubai, coinciding with UAE National Day.

The summit comes as part of COP28, the 28th conference on implementation of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, chaired by the UAE.

The conference is set to discuss countries’ responsibilities in combating climate change under the Paris Agreement and how to mitigate the effects of climate change.

The two leaders also discussed investment opportunities for the UAE in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the latest developments in the wider region and other issues of mutual interest.
