Kurdistan Region to Experience Heatwave
The Kurdistan Region is expected to experience a heatwave from Wednesday to Friday, with temperatures rising two to four degrees Celsius. The majority of provinces may see temperatures exceeding 41 degrees Celsius, while the Garmiyan independent administration could reach over 44 degrees Celsius. Mountainous regions like Balakayati and Penjwen may experience temperatures between 36 and 40 degrees Celsius.
The heatwave is projected to persist until the following Saturday, with a potential decrease of two to three degrees Celsius. The spokesperson for the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Dilan Rashad, emphasized that the heatwave would not be accompanied by dust and that sunny skies were expected.
Citizens were advised to avoid sun exposure, particularly from noon to evening, especially those with chronic illnesses. Certain areas in Garmiyan and Halabja Provinces might even witness temperatures as high as 48 degrees Celsius. Heatstroke, a leading cause of death during summer in the Kurdistan Region, prompted authorities to urge citizens to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities.
