Reber Ahmed, the Minister of Interior for the Kurdistan Region, has arrived in Washington, D.C. on an official visit aimed at meeting top U.S. officials and strengthening the partnership between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the United States.

During his visit, Minister Ahmed is expected to engage in discussions on security, humanitarian issues, and political matters critical to the mutual interests of both parties.

The visit marks the first official trip to the United States for Minister Ahmed, who is responsible for domestic security, social cohesion, combating money laundering and terrorism financing, as well as administering the displaced people's dossier.

In a statement released by the Kurdish diplomatic mission, it was announced that Minister Reber Ahmed had arrived in Washington, D.C. for an official visit to the United States. He was warmly received by Bayan Sami Rahman, the Kurdistan Regional Government Representative to the U.S., and the Chargé d'Affaires of the Iraqi Embassy.

During his visit, Minister Ahmed is scheduled to meet with several high-ranking U.S. officials, including representatives from the Departments of State, Defense, and Treasury, as well as the White House. Additionally, he will engage with members of Congress to discuss matters of mutual concern and interest.

Furthermore, the United States Institute of Peace has announced that it will host a discussion with Minister Ahmed on matters related to domestic and regional stability in Iraq and the Kurdish region. This event is expected to provide an opportunity for the minister to share insights and perspectives on the current situation and explore potential avenues for collaboration.

Minister Reber Ahmed, a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), has been serving as the Minister of Interior since July 2019 in the KRG ninth cabinet, led by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani. In his role, he oversees domestic security, social cohesion, the fight against money laundering, terror financing, human trafficking, drug trafficking, and the administration of the displaced people's dossier.

Representative Bayan Sami Rahman expressed optimism about the visit, stating that it would advance the partnership between the KRG and the United States. He emphasized that the discussions would cover critical topics such as security, humanitarian issues, and political matters that are of significant importance to both parties.
