Kurdistan Democratic Party Urges Cooperation for Parliamentary Elections Following Court Ruling

In response to the Federal Supreme Court's decision to reject the extension of the Kurdistan Region's legislative term, the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) has called on all political parties to collaborate and ensure the smooth organization of the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled later this year.

The KDP emphasizes the need for fair and transparent elections and urges the government and relevant institutions to take necessary measures to facilitate a successful electoral process.

Disputes have emerged between the KDP and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) regarding electoral constituencies and the allocation of seats to various ethnic and religious groups.

These disagreements have created tensions between the two major political parties in the region. The KDP, aiming to promote unity and progress, has expressed its willingness to make concessions and has placed the blame on the PUK for impeding the advancement of the electoral preparations.

The parliamentary elections hold significant importance for the Kurdistan Region, as they provide an opportunity for democratic representation and decision-making.

The KDP's call for cooperation among political parties reflects their commitment to ensuring a fair and inclusive electoral process, despite the existing challenges and differences between parties. With the court ruling setting the stage for timely elections, all eyes are now on the Kurdistan Region as preparations are underway to uphold democratic principles and facilitate a smooth transition of power.
