Barzani National Memorial Launched in Kurdistan Region to Honor Kurdish Freedom Fighter Mullah Mustafa Barzan
In a historic event on Thursday, the Barzani National Memorial was launched in the Barzan area of Erbil province in the Kurdistan Region. Attended by top officials from the region, leaders of political parties, and representatives of foreign countries, the memorial is dedicated to the memory of Mullah Mustafa Barzani, the founder of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and a key figure in the Kurdish freedom movement.
The memorial complex includes a museum, gallery hallway, library, mosque, and an auditorium. One of the standout features of the complex is a mosaic mural made from natural stones from different parts of Greater Kurdistan, depicting Mullah Mustafa Barzani’s struggle for Kurdish freedom.
KDP leader Masoud Barzani, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani, and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani were all present at the event, as were representatives of Iraqi and Kurdish political parties and foreign missions.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani, President Abdul Latif Rashid, and Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Mohammed al-Halbousi also traveled to Barzan to attend the event.
The museum features personal belongings, clothing, and tools used by Mullah Mustafa Barzani and his late son Idris Barzani during their decades-long struggle for Kurdish freedom.
Mullah Mustafa Barzani was born in the Barzan area in 1903 and dedicated his life to the Kurdish freedom movement until his death in 1979.
The launch of the Barzani National Memorial is a significant event for the Kurdish people and a tribute to the enduring legacy of Mullah Mustafa Barzani.
