US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Barbara A. Leaf to visit Erbil, highlighting U.S. commitment to partnership with Iraq

Erbil, Iraq - The United States' Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs Barbara A. Leaf is set to visit Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, as part of her trip to Iraq and Jordan from April 29 to May 5.

The visit will reinforce the United States' commitment to a secure, stable, and sovereign Iraq, and will explore opportunities for economic cooperation with the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

According to an official media note from the U.S. Department of State, Assistant Secretary Leaf will also meet with senior government officials and civil society representatives in Erbil to advance the United States' 360-degree partnership with the government and people of Iraq.

This visit to Erbil comes at a critical time for the region, which continues to face various security challenges and conflicts. Through collaboration and cooperation with its partners, the United States hopes to build a more secure future for all.
