Kurdistan Region to Begin Construction of 20,000 Affordable Housing Units for Low-Income Citizens

The Chairman of the Investment Board in the Kurdistan Region, Mohammed Shukri, has announced the start of the construction of 20,000 housing units designated for low-income families in the region.

According to the website of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Shukri stated that "the work on the implementation and distribution mechanisms of the housing units is ongoing, and the construction of all these projects in the cities of the Kurdistan Region will commence from the beginning of May until the end of the month."

He also added, "We will not stop until we complete the construction of housing units for low-income individuals and distribute them according to the designated mechanisms."

In May of last year, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, ordered the construction of 20,000 housing units for citizens with low income who do not have homes and are living in rented houses across the region's cities and provinces.

These housing units will be provided through a mechanism of easy and long-term installments that fit the financial ability of the needy and renters.

This project is expected to provide a significant boost to the housing sector in the Kurdistan Region, helping to improve the living conditions of low-income families and provide them with affordable and secure housing.
