President Masoud Barzani received in Salah al-Din on Sunday the French ambassador to Iraq Eric Chevallier.

During the meeting, which was attended by the French Consul General in Erbil, President Barzani wished success for the new French ambassador to Iraq, noting that President Macron's visit to the Kurdistan Region confirms the historical and friendly relations between the Kurdistan Region and the French people. .

The French ambassador reiterated that friendship between the French people and the people of Kurdistan is a constant and permanent issue.

The meeting focused on the upcoming October elections for the Iraqi Council of Representatives, expressing their hope that the results of the Iraqi parliamentary elections will lead to stability and a positive change in the interests of Iraqis.

The situation in Sinjar was another pillar of the meeting, stressing the need to normalize the situation in Sinjar and for the people of Sinjar to return to their area.
