PM Barzani receives EU envoy to monitor Iraqi elections
The Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, received on Saturday, the Head of the European Union Election Observation Mission, Viola von Cramon Tubadel, and her accompanying delegation in Erbil.
During the meeting, the EU High Representative gave a briefing on the work and activities of the EU mission aimed at monitoring the Iraqi parliamentary elections. She emphasized that their role is to monitor the situation and not to interfere in the conduct of the electoral process.
Appreciating the important role of the European Union in monitoring the elections, the Prime Minister called for the process to be conducted in a calm, fair and free of fraud and violence, particularly in the disputed areas.
He also expressed the KRG institutions' readiness for any necessary cooperation and coordination with the European Union delegation.
