PM Barzani announces abolition of salary deduction system this month
On Sunday, the Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, announced the abolition of the partial deduction of employee salaries for the current month, noting at the same time that failure to send the dues of the Kurdistan Region from Baghdad may force the government to re-work the deduction.
This came in a video speech by Masrour Barzani, after a meeting he held in the presence of his deputy, Qubad Talabani, Minister of Finance Awat Sheikh Janab, Minister of Natural Resources Kamal al-Atrushi, and Minister of Planning. Dara Rashid.
Barzani said, "I am pleased to announce to the employees of the Kurdistan Region the decision of the Supreme Council of Economy and the Council of Ministers to cancel the salary deduction, starting from this month, and it will be distributed without deductions."
He pointed out that providing salaries is a priority for the government's work, noting that "if the federal government continues to implement its promises and send the agreed share within the framework of the federal budget law, the Kurdistan Regional Government will continue to deliver salaries on time and in full."
On the mechanism for distributing salaries for the coming months, Barzani explained that “this often depends on the implementation of the federal government’s promises or not,” noting, “We hope that we will be able to distribute salaries without deduction in the future,” and thanked the “steadfastness” of the citizens.
In another context, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, in his speech, touched on the spread of the Corona virus pandemic, saying, "Cases of infection have risen, so we call on citizens to adhere to health guidelines."
He also directed the Ministry of Health to provide vaccines quickly, in order to reach the majority of the people of the Kurdistan Region, although not all of them.
