On Mount Matina, PKK fired on Peshmerga
On Saturday morning, at one of the points of the Peshmerga forces on Mount Matina in the Amedi district, the PKK guerrillas opened fire on the Peshmerga forces.
Peshmerga Chief of Staff Lieutenant-General Jamal Mohammad Eminki told Kurdistan 24 that the fire did not cause any casualties and the Peshmerga forces responded to the shooting.
He also added that the PKK is misusing the message of President Barzani to ban the fratricide, and they constantly have been threatening the Peshmerga forces.
Earlier this year in two separate incidents, the PKK fighters killed five Peshmerga soldiers in a rocket attack in Matina Mountain, and killed another by a sniper fire near Zakho.
The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has been repeatedly asking the PKK and Turkey to avoid using its territories as their battleground.
