Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani expressed solidarity with the victims of the terrorist attack on Sadr City in Baghdad, saying it was a sobering reminder of the continued threat terrorism poses to all of Iraq and its peoples.

"I’m saddened by the heinous attack in Sadr City on the eve of Eid al-Adha tonight," the prime minister wrote in a statement.

"This is a sobering reminder of the continued threat terrorism poses to all of Iraq and its peoples, and the need for closer coordination. The KRG stands in solidarity with the victims," PM Barzani added.

An explosive device exploded in Al-Wailat Market in Sadr City, Baghdad, on Monday evening. The market was crowded with shoppers in preparation for the Eid al-Adha holiday.
