On Tuesday, President Massoud Barzani received in Salahuddin the new Russian Ambassador to Iraq, Elbrus Kutrashef, and a companied delegation.

During the meeting, views were exchanged on the latest events and political developments at the Iraqi, Syrian and regional levels, as well as the threat of terrorism, and in connection with the war on terror, President Barzani stressed that the eradication of terrorism needs an international effort, and he said efforts to eradicate terrorism in Iraq and Syria need to be mutually exclusive.

The meeting also discussed the challenges facing the Iraqi political process and the upcoming Iraqi elections, emphasizing the impact of the situation in Iraq on the stability of the region.

Relations between the Kurdistan Region and Russia were another highlight of the meeting, and President Barzani wished success to the new Russian Ambassador to Iraq in his duties and activities.
