PM Barzani welcomes a UN delegation
The President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, on Monday, received a delegation headed by Ib Petersen, Deputy Executive Director of the UNFPA.
In the meeying, they discussed expanding cooperation between the KRG and the UNFPA to further advance population development.
PM Barzani stressed the KRG's readiness to support UN programs to improve health, education, and human resources development in the Kurdistan Region.
They also agreed on the importance of combating domestic violence and enhancing family conditions, which is foundational to a healthy society.
Both sides emphasized the importance of conducting an official population census in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq in cooperation with the United Nations and taking into consideration the demographic changes that certain parts of Iraq have been subjected to, especially in the disputed territories. Hundreds of thousands of residents have been forced to leave their homes due to war and instability and others have been brought to their places.
