US Embassy in Iraq expressed its sympathy for the fire at Sharya camp
After a fire broke out in a camp in Dohuk Governorate, on Friday, where Yazidi refugees live, the US Embassy in Iraq issued a statement expressing its condolences over the incident, noting that it is working with its partners in the city’s camps, including the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, UNICEF and the World Health Organization to offfer help for those affected.
The embassy reiterated the importance of trying to find a one-time solution to end the refugee crisis in Iraq, so that the refugees are ready and able to return to their homes in a peaceful manner.
It is worth noting that Sharya camp is located south of the city of Dohuk and is inhabited by Yazidi civilians who were displaced due to ISIS terrorist attacks on Sinjar in the summer of 2014.
