The village of Chalka, in Kani Masi subdistrict, where 18 Christian families used to live, was vacated amid military conflicts between the PKK and Turkish army as well as bombardments in the region, Amedi Mayor Ismail Mustafa told BasNews.
This was the second village in the area to be vacated for the same reason in less than one week.
Another Kurdish official in Duhok revealed to BasNews that if the confrontation continues, it might lead to the vacation of a number of other villages in the region soon.
Earlier on May 4, the residents of Kesta village, in Kani Masi subdistrict, vacated the village.
Turkey views the PKK as a "terrorist organisation" while the two sides are in a military conflict for over three decades over the Kurdish question in the country.
