PM Barzani Thanks Iraqi Leaders for Supporting Federal Budget Law
“Today I spoke with Iraqi leaders Ammar al-Hakeem, Hadi Al-Ameri, Khamis Khanjar, and Ahmed Al-Jubouri to thank them for their support in passing the budget law,” PM Barzani wrote on Twitter.
“We all agree that this can be a meaningful step towards resolving other KRG-Baghdad pending issues,” he added.
PM Barzani had previously spoken with his Iraqi counterpart, Mustafa al-Kadhimi, and Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi, thanking them for their “personal role and commitment” in passing the budget law.
Kurdish leaders, the US and UK on Thursday issued separate statements to welcome the approval of the budget which is hoped to help settling the financial disputes between the regional government of Kurdistan and the federal government of Iraq.
