US-led Coalition to Continue Its Assistance to Peshmerga
ERBIL - The US-led Coalition to combat the Islamic State (IS) has confirmed the continuation of its support and assistance to the Kurdistan Region's Peshmerga forces, a statement said on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Peshmerga said in a statement that the Global Coalition has assured that all problems and obstacles facing the arrival of financial and logistical assistance have been addressed.

Peshmerga Minister Ismail Shorsh met with Col. David Williams, director of the Kurdistan Coordination Centre (KCC), who assured the continuation of the Coalition's financial support to the Peshmerga fighters.

The statement added that the Peshmerga minister further commended the prolonged efforts of the Coalition and United States in supporting and assisting the Peshmerga forces, stressing that the continuation of this military assistance provided by the Coalition forces to the Kurdistan Peshmerga fighters will contribute to "making it an advanced, professional and contemporary force."

Backed by the US-led Coalition, the Kurdistan Region's Peshmerga fighters played a key role in defeating the Islamic State in Iraq between 2014 and 2017.
