ERBIL - Qatar has commended the stability and development seen in the Kurdistan Region, wishing for strengthened relations between Erbil and Doha.

Kurdish prominent leader and President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Masoud Barzani, on Wednesday received Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani in Erbil.

He further noted that he was delighted to see a favorable condition for Qatari investment in the Kurdistan Region, adding that the opening of a Qatari general consulate in Erbil will pave the way to enhance such investments.

Barzani, in return, welcomed the Qatari delegation and expressed happiness for Doha's willingness to open a general consulate in Erbil, his office said in a statement.
