COVID-19: Kurdistan Reports Highest Daily Infections Since Last November
ERBIL — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) on Monday reported 409 new cases of COVID-19 to make it the highest daily infection rate since 30th November, 2020.

KRG’s Health Minister said in its daily report that the new infections have raised the total number of recorded cases to 113,104.

The ministry also confirmed four fatalities and 232 recoveries over the past day.

The overall death toll related to the pandemic now stands at 3,568, the report said, noting that there are 3,853 active cases currently under treatment in the four provinces of Kurdistan Region.

After an increase in the daily infections, the Kurdistan Region is considering new measures to curb the spread. In Erbil, the governor has made face masks mandatory in public.

In the light of the pandemic risks, Kurdistan hasn’t organised any public events to celebrate the Kurdish new year known as “Nawroz”.
