Nothing will Stop KRG's Commitment to Reforms, Prosperity: PM Barzani
Barzani made the remarks during his speech at a ceremony held to open Erbil’s 150 Mtr. Highway project on Thursday, where he reaffirmed that his cabinet will continue all its efforts to accomplish reforms and provide services for citizens.
"The efforts to diminish people's trust in the KRG and its authorities were thankfully unsuccessful and none of these crisis will stop us from doing our work for reform for prosperity, for the advancement of our beloved Kurdistan," PM Barzani said.
He further reminded the KRG faced various crises, some of which "were natural" such as the coronavirus pandemic, a downfall in the oil prices, and global economic challenges, but that the regional government continued to provide public services anyway.
Concerning the Erbil’s 150 Mtr. Highway project, the Kurdish premier noted that "the importance of this project, aside from improving transport for our people, citizens of Erbil in particular, is in its ability to aid trade and to connect the city of Erbil to its surrounding areas and other cities. This has helped to continue trade and has allowed these projects to be finished on time and even ahead of schedule."
Prime Minister Barzani, in the meantime, revealed that extensive investigations helped identify those behind the recent rocket attack in Erbil.
"We soon obtained important clues and made rapid progress in finding the perpetrators," he said. "I soon discussed the issue with the Iraqi prime minister, and we shared the information with the Coalition partners to further develop the investigation."
