New Governor of Erbil Officially Takes Office
ERBIL — Omed Khoshnaw, the new governor of Erbil officially took office on Monday during a ceremony attended by Interior Minister Rebar Ahmed and members of the Erbil Provincial Council.

Khoshnaw, from the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), was elected as the new governor of Erbil on February 8th by the provincial council, after which he was sworn in by the Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani.

He previously served as a lawmaker for two terms.

Minister Ahmed said during a press conference after today’s ceremony that the government believes that Khoshnaw will be successful in his new role as he did in the previous ones.

He also promised to provide every assistance to the governor’s office for delivering the best services to the people of the province.

Governor Khoshnaw also stated that he understands the difficulties on the way, but he is committed to overcome every obstacle and secure a prosperous future for Erbil and its people.
