SDF Trying to Root Out IS in Baghouz: Spokesperson
ERBIL - The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) is trying to root out the Islamic State (IS) remnants in the Syrian eastern village of Baghouz, a spokesperson said on Tuesday.

"SDF combing the area in Baghouz and its vicinity, dismantling mines/traps, looking for sleeper cells and other remnants of Daesh," SDF Spokesperson Mustafa Bali wrote on Twitter, using an Arabic acronym for IS.

The US-backed Kurdish forces announced the full victory over the militant group in eastern Syria a few days ago.

However, Bali noted that there are still jihadists in the liberated territories, hiding in the caves.

"There’re still some terrorists hiding in the cave system in vicinity of mount Baghouz."
