ERBIL — Prominent Kurdish leader and former President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, received the president of Turkmeneli Party, Riyadh Sari Kahya, on Sunday in Erbil to discuss latest political and security situation related to the components of Iraq.

Kahya commended Barzani for his role in the politics of Iraq and developments in the Kurdistan Region. He also thanked Barzani for supporting the rights of minorities during the process of writing the new Constitution of Iraq after 2003.

The pair discussed the crisis in Kirkuk, agreeing that all the components would only benefit from peaceful coexistence, and that standing against extremism is essential.

They also noted that the governance of Kirkuk should be at the hands of the people of the province so to address the disputes and prevent further tensions.
