ERBIL — Kurdistan Region’s directorate of Meteorology and Seismology has issued a weather alert as heavy rainfalls are expected with the threat of flash floods.

“A heavy rainfall is expected to hit Kurdistan Region with thunder and storm, starting Saturday evening,” the statement warned.

It detailed that Duhok, Erbil and Sulaymaniyah provinces will all be affected. Highlands around border areas are vulnerable to flash floods.
