ERBIL - Coexistence is the best and most powerful weapon to fight terrorism, prominent Kurdish leader and former President of the Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, said on Tuesday, also hoping the ideology of terror will be rooted out in the region.

Barzani made the remarks during a meeting with the political and social figures in Zummar district, northwest of Mosul, where he hailed the culture and peaceful coexistence in the region, reminding the public that the people of the region made big sacrifices while defending and fighting terrorist organizations in the past few years.

He also stressed that political disputes in Iraq and Kurdistan Region should not cause hatred among the different ethnic and religious groups in the country.

Concerning the situation in the disputed Kurdish province of Kirkuk and the article 140 from the Iraqi Constitution, the Kurdish influential leader pointed out that the best way to deal with the issue in the area is to implement the controversial article, calling for peaceful solutions and understandigs to resolve the disputes.
