ERBIL - Iran has achieved the majority of its objectives in Syria despite aIsrael's efforts against Tehran's mission in the country, a senior Iranian official said on Saturday.

"We have accomplished more than 90 percent of our objectives. Thus, the Israeli punitive strikes [on Syria] have had no strategic impact and the resistance has pressed ahead with its activities," Ali Shamkhani, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, told Tansim news agency.

However, the official did not clearly explain what he meant by his country's objectives.

Tensions between Israel and Iran have arisen and the former has many times carried out missile attacks against the latter's targets in Syria.
