ERBIL — The Ambassador of Germany in Iraq Serel Non has underscored the role of Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani in the regional politics and noted that the former president of Kurdistan Region gives hope to his people in the Middle East.

Non, accompanied by German Consul General Barbara Wolf, met with Barzani on Tuesday to discuss a range of issues related to politics and security in Iraq and Kurdistan Region, according to the readout of the meeting.

The German envoy ensured that his country will continue sending humanitarian aid and it will work to bring stability back to Iraq.

Discussing the recent developments in Syria, Barzani expressed concern over the future of Kurds in the country, according to the statement.

Concerning the relations between Erbil and Baghdad, Barzani described the recent talks as “positive”, and emphasized on peaceful dialogue as the only way to resolve the remaining disputes.
