Turkish Jets Shell Kurdistan Borders
ERBIL - Turkish warplanes shelled on Sunday evening the border areas of the Kurdistan Region, allegedly targeting the positions of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the territories, an official said.

Head of Sidakan administration, Ihsan Chalabi, told BasNews that the Turkish aircrafts bombarded the Sidakan area, in Erbil province, after a vehicle of the PKK fighters passed by in the region.

The official explained that the airstrikes were launched at around 5:00 pm Erbil time, lasting for around one hour.

However, Chalabi said, the bombardments did not result in the killing of any civilians, but that they caused panic among the residents, adding that it is not known yet whether any PKK fighters have been targeted.
