ERBIL — Chancellor of Kurdistan Region Security Council (KRSC) Masrour Barzani has reiterated his call on Kurdish political parties in Syria “to work in an inclusive and cooperative spirit”.

The remark was made during a meeting between Barzani and US Major General Patrick Roberson of Operation Inherent Resolve on Wednesday who discussed the latest political and security developments in the region.

“In the lengthy meeting, Chancellor Barzani emphasized the need for Kurdish political forces in Syria to work in an inclusive and cooperative spirit. In that regard, he expressed readiness to help advance a political settlement among Kurdish factions,” reads the readout of the meeting.

“Chancellor Barzani and Major General Roberson also discussed mechanisms necessary to stop further suffering and displacement of the Syrian peoples, including Kurds.”

Reviewing the latest developments in the war against the Islamic State (IS), the pair discussed the importance of US’s assistance to the Iraqi and Peshmerga forces to prevent a resurgence of terrorism.
