Upon an invitation from the European Union Representative and German Ambassador, Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari reviewed on April 13, 2014, at the German Embassy, for the European states' ambassadors accredited in Baghdad, the preparations of the Iraqi government to hold the elections on time.


Minister Zebari explained the importance of the upcoming elections and the government's keenness to provide the necessary security and conditions required for transparent and fair elections and equal opportunities for all citizens in all provinces.

The Minister also briefed the efforts of the Independent High Electoral Commission and in collaboration with Foreign Ministry and the Iraqi embassies to hold the elections abroad, demanding the support of the European governments for the participation of Iraqis in the elections. The Minister answered questions raised by the attendees.

The meeting was attended by the majority of EU states' ambassadors and charge d'affaires.
