Nine-month-old boy tried for attempted murder, threatening police, and intervention with state affairs
Nine-month-old toddler Muhammad Mosa Khan is being tried on charges of planning murder, threatening police and interfering with state affairs in Pakistan.

Although the toddler has been granted bail after his appearance in the court this week, Muhammad is expected back in the court on April 12.

Sub-Inspector Kashif Ahmed decided to arrest the child after denial of paying for electricity ended with 30 residents of Lahore, including Muhammad and a number of members of his family, allegedly throwing stones at police and energy officials in February.

Sub-Inspector Ahmed believed the nine-month-old boy capable of – and had – taken part in the stone throwing.

In a video uploaded to the Independent website, Mosa could be seen being fingerprinted. During the trial session, Muhammad was made to sit on his grandfather`s lap, drinking his bottle.

The baby`s grandfather, Mohammad Yaseen said in an interview with Reuters, “He was booked under Section 326 and was presented before court. He doesn`t even know how to pick up his milk bottle properly. How can he stone the police?”

The judge responsible for the trial issued bail for the baby and the 30 other people involved in the case after he realized the bizarre of the case, but could not dismiss the case immediately. After the arrest, Sub-Inspector Ahmed was supposedly suspended for making the absurd situation.

With the age of criminal responsibility known to be 12-years-old in Pakistan, officials pledge strong action to be taken against those responsible for registering the case.
